MESSAGE FROM US……
The idea for the festival was inspired one fine sunny day in the beautiful central highlands of New South Wales. We wanted to combine passion for film, the arts and arts education by creating a world class event for the village of Millthorpe.
NIGEL BURLEY – DIRECTOR
Born in Sydney, I was only ever really interested in dancing as a kid and I made my career as a classical ballet dancer, having a successful performance career for 12 years on the international stages of the world as a Principal Artist with The Australian Ballet, Twyla Tharp in New York and with The Royal Ballet in Covent Garden, London.
Like most people, I have always loved films and been fascinated by documentaries, short films, anime and most other genres, I even got to be in a film once! After I stopped dancing professionally, I did a lot of teaching in Australia, Japan and North America. Then I became involved in independent art projects and learnt that it’s more important who is on the team rather than how big the budget is.
I have travelled the world for work and for fun, been a teacher, an employee, a volunteer, a university instructor and a mentor. I have learnt how much there is that every human shares and I want this to be the driving force behind the festival.

The most recent of these breaks involved working for Regional Development Australia, during this time she established two significant economic development projects for the Central West region. Danica balances her work life balance with two beautiful children, classical ballet and supporting women’s health charities raising awareness for Endometriosis. Danica’s family has had a long established connection to art, film, media, communications and writing. The opportunity to nurture and support projects such as this that provide support and real opportunities for young people in regional NSW provides her with the realisation of her own aspirations.
